We had a very busy week here at STA. We began our week with our May Crowning and Grandparents Day Celebrations on Monday. The students in 4B used the time with their grandparents to discuss how school has changed over the years. This information will be used to write a poem in the coming weeks. On Tuesday the students made their final trip to West Hartford Health and Rehabilitation Center to work with the residents on an Arts and Crafts project. I am so amazed with how comfortable the students have become with the residents. On Wednesday we began our day by testing our heart rates and graphing them in a math lesson. This was the beginning of our field day activities. We had a combined rehearsal with 3rd grade on Friday to get ready for our Spring Concert next week. Enjoy some pictures below from this past week.

What a great field trip into West Hartford Center today. The students had a great time exploring and learning about the different kinds of businesses that serve our community. We were able to visit, Larsen Ace Hardware, BK & Co., ClayPen, Webster Bank, and Luna Pizza. At each stop the students asked questions about our economic topics like advertising, taxes, employees, and pricing. Thank you to all of the businesses that opened their doors to us.

It is finally starting to feel like Spring, however the students in 4B continue to push themselves to become better students each day. In the past week we continued our explorations of light and heat (see pictures below), discussed area and perimeter of polygons, finished our novel study books, and began our Holy Week stations of the cross booklet. It is really exciting to see the students working together to build new learning and ideas in small groups. I hope all of you have a great vacation.

Do you hear something? The students in 4B are busy exploring how sound is made and how it is transferred. Today we went through four sound stations, in which the students explored these important questions about sound. Some students even took it a step farther with some extension activities to see what new learning they were able to create.

Many of the parents have been asking about my recent pilgrimage to Panama for World Youth Day. If you follow the link below you can read the posts from the students and also see some pictures from the trip. It was really great to Skype with the class while I was there. They were able to meet some other pilgrims from Greece, California, Kenya, and England. Thanks for all of the prayers and support.
